$100,000 Bill!? The Stories Behind The Biggest Coins And Bills In U.S. History (PHOTOS).

I thought it was Benjamin that rule the roost as far as the highest actual US currency that existed. This is not actually true. The US government has been printing big bills for a long longer than I even knew. The above picture is a real picture of a $100,000 bill with Wilson as its figure head. The bill was printed at the height of the Great Depression according to Bloomberg on Dec. 18, 1934. The purpose of these bills was to spur inflation and were only used for the Federal Reserve Banking system to facilitate transfer between banks, but never publicly circulated because it is actually illegal to own one. Too bad it is illegal to own one because these would be cool just to own. Hey but with the rise of inflation and the government continually causing prices to rise you never know this may be the only we use in the future to buy basic goods.

Rare World War I Images Found Inside Antique Camera By Photographer Anton Orlov (VIDEO, PHOTOS).

A photographer and blogger found rare WWI photos perfectly preserved in a camera he bought from an antique shop. The photos are a look back at history and show the ravaged countrysides of France during WWI. I love to this particular time period and quite frankly am jealous that I haven’t found something this special…yet.

These people are living the green dream and having fun while doing it. Spacious yet minimalistic, fun yet funky, economical yet eco friendly…I could go on like this forever, but these are all ways to describe this eco chic couple. The Lanes live on a bus in the San Francisco Bay area: a former school bus, to be exact, that they purchased in Oregon via Craigslist for $3,000.  The 39-foot bus is just like “a regular home” on the inside: it features a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, lounge area and even a movie room on the bus’ “second story.” Its livability is achieved by using custom, hand-made furniture, and IKEA pieces that have been altered to fit the bus’ specs. And it even sleeps 10! Plus they live completely off the grid and only pay $100 a month for maintenance this is the new American Dream.

Rachel, a therapist, and Richard, an IT professional, have been living on the bus full-time for four years. Many people are taking the American Dream to the next level by coming up with creative ways to still have the creature comforts of home in a smaller but happy space.  The increase of alternative housing is in response to the change in the economic climate and the greater need for flexibility and sustainability. Eco friendly is not just for the tree huggers anymore.

A New Kind Of Children’s Hospital

A New Kind Of Children’s Hospital.

More hospitals should take this alternative approach and take more care in the patient then what’s in their wallets especially when it comes to kids. The hospital provides an environment conducive to healing not just physically but emotionally. The children are allowed to decorate and paint the walls of their rooms like their rooms at home. As CNN put it best :” Set amidst a wooded expanse of central Florida, with theme park roller coasters peppering the horizon, Nemours Children’s Hospital is arguably the new high water mark for pediatric care in the United States. It’s a hospital that believes nature — and its healing properties — is as valuable as any IV or pill.” I agree it depends on the situation but medicine doesn’t cure everything plus it helps families to know that someone cares and wants the best for their kids.
