Hazard Shooting: 2 Killed At Community College Shooting In Kentucky.

A gunman fired into a vehicle killing two people and wounded a juvenile Tuesday in the parking lot of an eastern Kentucky community college, Hazard Community and Technical College in Hazard. The campus was on lock down for over an hour and students were not allowed to leave until the premises was cleared by police to ensure no further danger. At the time of the shooting, there was 30 student students on campus. Three hours after the shooting at a news conference, no suspects have been identified and the semiautomatic pistol used was recovered. A male and female were dead already when the police arrived at 6 pm while the wounded female juvenile was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital. The police as well as college officials do not believe the violence was directly connected to the school and may have been the result of a domestic dispute. The relationship between the victims and shooter are not known.

Joshua Boston, Former Marine, Pens Response To Dianne Feinstein Gun Control Bill: ‘I Am Not Your Servant’.

A United States Marine veteran has penned a response to California Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s gun control proposal, saying the government has no right to take away his weapon: “I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve.” This is in response to the Newtown, Conneticut shopting at Sandy Hook Elementary which left 20 children dead. Boston goes on to say:

“I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one…I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.”

The letter only stoked the fire in the long debate about gun laws and gun violence. The bill itself would ban the sale of semi-automatic weapons, strengthen the 1994 “Assault Weapons Ban” and tighten regulations for grandfathered weapons. The situation has made worse the tragedy at Sandy Hook and ignite a fire between pro-gun laws and pro 2nd amendment rights.

What do you think? I understand people want the right to keep and bear arms…I only have one question. Why do you need a semi-automatic weapon? The bill doesn’t ask that all weapons be taken away it asks for those specifically to be banned. It isn’t the end of the world and with all the recent shooting it would be better to see if this helps than not. The problem I have with the letter is that the government should know what guns you have and tighten the gun laws because if people would do their homework in all these cases of violence the guns were not owned by the individual committing the crime. I do agree their are many instance where the violence could of been avoided by looking at all of components that lead to it.
